In the feedback at the end of the Leadership Summit held in July 2020, many Institutions told us that they plan to work on establishing Industry collaboration with IUCEE’s assistance. This session is organized in response to that request.

It is well understood that Industry-Academic Collaboration helps both the Industry as well as the Academic Institution. Industry can depend upon the Academic Institution and its multi-disciplined Science, Engineering & Technology departments to conduct research in support of the Industry’s Product Development area. It is not economically feasible for every Industry to establish a full fledge Research and Development arm. Academic Institution can fulfill that need for Industries.

By the same token, the Academic Institution wins by getting research grants from the Industry, research papers publications, internships and potentially employment for their students. Even if no money changes hands, students gain valuable experience toward their employability.

However, the question is ‘How do we manage to get this Industry-Academic ‘marriage’ to take place?’ Some institutions have managed to achieve this by establishing relationships with local Industry. Also, some Institutions have managed this by approaching industries in their area, exploring what are the problems faced by the local industry and helping them solve these problems with Engineering and Science solutions.

For this track, we are seeking papers from the Institutions that have reached out to the local Industry, understood their problems and have tried to solve them.
