International Conference on Transformations in Engineering Education

2 – 4 January 2024, KLE Technological University, Vidyanagar, Hubballi, Karnataka

International Conference on Transformations in Engineering Education (ICTIEE) is one of the signature programs of the IUCEE Foundation, connecting experts and passionate educators globally to improve the potential for excellence in engineering education. The conference has emerged as a global platform for sharing best practices and collaborating with academic and industrial experts for faculty and students. Over time, the research articles submitted to ICTIEE have significantly improved in quality and quantity.

ICTIEE 2024 will be held at KLE Technological University, Hubbali, Karnataka, India, with a focus on “Systemic Transformation in Engineering Education”.

Systemic Transformation in Engineering Education requires an ecosystem for outcomes-based curriculum development, the practice of student-centric teaching and learning pedagogies, appropriate choice of technologies to enhance learning outcomes, effective assessment strategies, and institutional support for innovative transformations. The tracks have been designed to reflect this emphasis on holistic change processes.

About KLE Tech

KLE Technological University (KLE Tech) has its roots in one of the premier engineering institutions of Karnataka, B. V. Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology (BVB), a prestigious engineering college in Hubli. The founding organization KLE Society, Belgaum, established BVB college in 1947 to create an institution that would lay the foundation of modern engineering education in the northern region of Karnataka. As we stepped into the 21st century, the college undertook a comprehensive reform process to adapt to the challenging global engineering education scenario. In pursuit of academic excellence, the college attained academic autonomy from University Grant Commission (UGC) in 2007. In 2014 the college was recognized as a state private University by the Government of Karnataka. The rich heritage of BVB College as one of the best engineering colleges in Hubballi, combined with the brand equity of KLE Society, are the starting points for KLE Technological University to emerge as a University with a national distinction.

KLE Tech is vital in creating an engineering education system that offers students opportunities to realize their potential and prepare themselves for a professional career. These initiatives include designing industry-relevant curricula, practising active, collaborative, experiential learning pedagogies, assessment, and evaluation. KLE Tech is recognized for innovations in this space. Learning from these innovations and sustaining them resulted in the establishment of the Centre for Engineering Education Research (CEER). CEER was established in 2010 to promote innovation and research in Engineering Education to bring about a qualitative change in students’ learning experience.

CEER has traversed in its journey from the promotion of Scholarship of teaching and learning to research in engineering education. Through continuous engagement with faculty on curriculum design, teaching-learning and assessment, CEER has been influential in building capacity for adopting evidence-based practices in engineering education to design innovative courses and programs at KLE Tech. Its journey from Scholarship of teaching- learning to engineering education research culminated in setting up a PhD program in 2015, followed by a research canvas comprising service learning, problem/project-based learning, technology-enhanced learning and discipline-based education research. Through thoughtfully designed outreach activities, CEER has been instrumental in promoting the setting up of Teaching-Learning centres, first-year interdisciplinary design and PBL courses, and instructional design for student-centred learning across several institutes at the regional and national levels. Along with the latest collaboration with Aalborg University, Denmark, on developing a PBL certification program for India,  it further strives to elevate its engineering education research capabilities through strategic global partnerships and collaborations.
