Born in 1965 in Eskişehir, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal received his BS degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Middle East Technical University, Turkey in 1987 and PhD in Ceramic Materials from University of Newcastle (UK) in 1992. He worked as a postdoctoral research associate during the periods of 1992-1996 and 1997-1998 at Newcastle and Karlsruhe Universities, respectively.
In 1996, he joined the department of Ceramic Engineering at Anadolu University. He became the Head of Department (1999), Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Anadolu University (2004), Chairperson of Turkish Engineering Deans Council (2006), Chairperson of Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC-2009) and Vice Rector of Anadolu University (2010).
He has co-authored over a hundred publications, three patents about science and technologies on Si3N4 based ceramics including phase relationships, structure-property relations and applications, specifically on cutting tools. There have been over 750 cites to his publications and his h factor is 15. He has also contributed in the field of education and university-industry relations. Because of these achievements, he was honored by twenty awards including TUBITAK Science Award and European Ceramic Society, Stuijts Award. As a scientific expert, he served in several positions including the Turkish Scientific and Research Council, National Boron Institute, Eskisehir Technological Development Park, Ceramic Research Center Co.
Prof. Dr. Mandal is a Council and Permanent Executive Committee members of European Ceramic Society (ECerS), Council Member of International Ceramic Federation (ICF) and Consulting Member of World Innovation Foundation (WIF). He is currently the President of European Ceramic Society (ECerS) and the First Vice President of International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES).

Khairiyah Mohd Yusof is an Associate Professor and the Head of Information Systems Program at the School of Computer Science, Faculty of Technology and Information Science, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (National University of Malaysia). Her research interests include Health Informatics, particularly Health Information Systems Evaluation, Information Systems Development, Management Information Systems, Business Process Management, Human and Organizational issues in IS, Cybernetics, particularly the Viable System Model and Ontology. |

Uday B. Desai received the B. Tech. degree from IIT-Kanpur, India, in 1974, the M.S. degree from the State University of New York, Buffalo, in 1976, and the Ph.D. degree from The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, U.S.A., in 1979, all in Electrical Engineering. Since June 2009 he is the Director of IIT Hyderabad.
From 1979 to 1984 he was with Washington State University as Assistant Professor and then Associate Professor. From 1987 to May 2009 he was a Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at the Indian Institute of Technology - Bombay. He has held Visiting Associate Professor's position at Arizona State University, Purdue University, and Stanford University. He was a visiting Professor at EPFL, Lausanne during the summer of 2002.
His research interest is in wireless communication, cognitive radio, wireless sensor networks and statistical signal processing. He has authored several edited books and research monographs.
Dr. Desai a Fellow of INSA (Indian National Science Academy), Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), and a recipient of J C Bose Fellowship. He is also the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award from IIT-Bombay for 2007. He was also on the Visitation Panel for University of Ghana

Dr. Sudhir Jain, Director, IIT Gandhinagar |

He is an internationally renowned scholar in Earthquake Engineering and a passionate academic administrator. He has been on the faculty of IIT Kanpur since 1984, from where he is presently on leave to serve as the first Director of the new Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) in Ahmedabad.
Under his leadership, IIT Gandhinagar has become widely recognised for innovations in its educational programs, faculty recruitment and governance. Its new undergraduate curriculum, which incorporates a distinctive five week Foundation Programme for incoming fresh men and an emphasis on the humanities and social sciences,and project based learning, was awarded the Innovation in Higher Education Award at the 2013 World Education Summit. IITGN has recruited exceptional faculty from some of the world’s finest institutions and developed a vibrant visiting faculty program that brings scores of scholars from leading institutes through out India and the world to its campus every year.
Nearly a third of IITGN’s undergraduate students receive study abroad and other international experiences and the institute has established centres of excellence in safety, biomedical engineering, design and innovation,and archaeology with substantial external support. This year, IITGN received almost 30,000 applications for its PhD and MTech programes, making graduate admissions to IITGN even more selective than BTech admissions through the JEE.
Dr. Jain holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Roorkee, and Masters and Doctoral degrees from the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena. He was elected to the Board of Directors of the International Association for Earthquake Engineering in 2000, and is currently its President-Elect. He also served on the Board of Directors of the World Seismic Safety Initiative from 2002 to 2009. He was elected Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering in 2003, and was conferred Life Membership by the New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineering (NZSEE) in 2013. |

Prof Dr PE Seeram Ramakrishna, FREng, FIES, FNAE, FAAET is a writer & speaker on tertiary education & innovation trends at the meetings facilitated by World Bank, OECD, EU, ASEAN, Governments, professional societies & associations, non-profits, and think-tanks around the world. Over the past 25 years Seeram has been serving the global engineering community in various capacities which includes Vice-President of IFEES; Founder of the Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC); Board Member of Asia Society for Innovation & Policy (ASIP); and Chair of national council of engineering organizations (NCEO). He authored foresighted book The Changing Face of Innovation. He contributed to the management boards of ~ 10 national & international organizations, and advices tertiary education institutions, foundations, & corporates around the world. His university leadership includes National University of Singapore (NUS) Vice-President of Research Strategy, Director of NUS Enterprise & Technology Licensing, & Dean of NUS Faculty of Engineering.
He is a Highly Cited Materials Scientist (worldwide rank 3). He authored 5 books and ~ 550 ISI listed papers which attracted ~ 28,000 citations & 78 H-index. He is the Director of Center for Nanofibers & Nanotechnology, and Professor of Materials Engineering at NUS. He received academic training from Andhra University, IIT Madras, University of Cambridge, & Harvard University, and further exposure from more than 50 diverse tertiary institutions around the world. He received numerous recognitions including the China Changjiang Scholar, India Nehru Fellowship, Japan GSFS Fellow, and Singapore LKY Fellowship. He is an elected international fellow of Royal Academy of Engineering, UK; National Academy of Engineering, India; Institution of Engineers Singapore; ASEAN Academy of Engineering & Technology; American Association of the Advancement of Science; ASM International; American Society for Mechanical Engineers; American Institute for Medical & Biological Engineering; Institution of Mechanical Engineers, UK; and Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining, UK.
