  Dr. Michael Milligan “Outcomes Assessment and ABET”
 
Michael Milligan

Dr. Milligan is Executive Director of ABET, the recognized leading accreditor for college and university technical education programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology. Dr. Milligan is responsible for ABET's strategic vision, administration, and accreditation operations.


Prior to joining ABET, Dr. Milligan worked in satellite program development at the Aerospace Corporation. Dr. Milligan also served 24 years as a career U.S. Air Force officer and engineer, where he managed international research portfolios in Europe, the former Soviet Union, the Middle East, and Africa. Dr. Milligan served six years as an associate professor, and later as deputy department head, in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the U.S. Air Force Academy.


Dr. Milligan earned a Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin, an M.S.E. from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, and a B.S. from Michigan State University — all in electrical engineering. He earned an M.B.A. from Western New England University. Dr. Milligan is a senior member of IEEE, a member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society, and a registered professional engineer in Colorado and Maryland.

Dr. Vinod K Lohani is professor in engineering education and an adjunct faculty in the civil and environmental engineering departments at Virginia Tech. He received a PhD in civil engineering from Virginia Tech in 1995. His research interests are in the areas of hydrology, water resources, energy and water sustainability, international collaboration in engineering education, and development and evaluation of learning modules for exposing freshmen to engineering concepts. He co-coordinates the freshman engineering course Engineering Exploration in the Department of Engineering Education. He served/s as the PI on BEEVT and DLR grants and currently collaborates with several VT investigators on grants funded under Research Experiences for Undergraduates, Nanotechnology Undergraduate Education in Engineering, CreativeIT, Course, Curriculum and Laboratory Improvement, Ethics Education in Science and Engineering programs of NSF and FIPSE program of the Department of Education

Michael E. Auer (born 1948 in Weimar) is a German computer scientist and engineering educator and professor at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, Austria.


He is the head of the Center of Competence (CoC) Online Laboratories at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences. In June 2006 Michael Auer was elected as President and CEO of theInternational Association of Online Engineering (IAOE). He is founder and chair of the annual International Conference Interactive Computer aided Learning (ICL) in Villach / Austria, chair of the steering committee of the annual International Conference Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation (REV). Under his guidance international teams developed a Joint European Master Study Program Remote Engineering (EU project MARE) and a Joint European Bachelor Study Program Information Technology (EU project BIT2010). He is editor-in-chief of the International Journals of Online Engineering (iJOE),] Emerging Technologies in Learning (iJET) and Interactive Mobile Technologies (iJIM). He also acts as an associated editor for Middle and Eastern Europe of the European Journal of Open and Distance Learning (EURODL).

Michael E. Auer received his Ing. degree (1971) and his Ph.D. degree (1975) with a thesis on "Design and Analysis of ECL Circuits" from Dresden University of Technology. From 1974-91 he was an assistant professor at the faculties Electrical Engineering and Informatics of this University. From 1991-95 he was with F+O Electronic Systems GmbH, Heidelberg (Head of software department). His research was related to high-speed digital circuits (ECL), realtime and network programming, embedded systems, system- and network administration of heterogeneous networks, telelearning/teleteaching, remote working environments. In 1995 Michael Auer was appointed Professor of Electrical Engineering of the School of Electronics at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, Villach, Austria and has also a teaching position at the University of Klagenfurt. He works as a visiting professor at the Universities of Amman (Jordan), Braşov, (Romania) and Patras, (Greece).

 

   
  Dr. Bopaya Bidanda “Engineers without Frontiers”

Bopaya Bidanda joined the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh in 1987 after his doctoral degree from the Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering at Penn State. His research is in the area of manufacturing systems with a special focus on Group Technology, Reverse Engineering, Cellular manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing, Human issues in manufacturing, Product Development, and Manufacturing Modernization. He is currently the Ernest E. Roth Professor and Chairman of the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh.


At Pitt, he has helped found the Manufacturing Assistance Center, the Automated Data Collection Laboratory, and more recently theSwanson Center for New Product Innovation.

He has industrial experience in aerospace manufacturing, precision manufacturing and tooling accrued before graduate study. He has co-published two books with McGraw Hill (Automated Factory Handbook andShared Manufacturing), in addition to over 100 papers in international journals and conference
   
  Dr. S. Ramakrishna “Attributes of a Global Engineer”
 
Prof Dr PE Seeram Ramakrishna, FREng, FIES, FNAE, FAAET is a writer & speaker on tertiary education & innovation trends at the meetings facilitated by World Bank, OECD, EU, ASEAN, Governments, professional societies & associations, non-profits, and think-tanks around the world.  Over the past 25 years Seeram has been serving the global engineering community in various capacities which includes Vice-President of IFEES; Founder of the Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC); Board Member of Asia Society for Innovation & Policy (ASIP); and Chair of national council of engineering organizations (NCEO). He authored foresighted book The Changing Face of Innovation.  He contributed to the management boards of ~ 10 national & international organizations, and advices tertiary education institutions, foundations, & corporates around the world. His university leadership includes National University of Singapore (NUS) Vice-President of Research Strategy, Director of NUS Enterprise & Technology Licensing, & Dean of NUS Faculty of Engineering. 

He is a Highly Cited Materials Scientist (worldwide rank 3).  He authored 5 books and ~ 550 ISI listed papers which attracted ~ 28,000 citations & 78 H-index. He is the Director of Center for Nanofibers & Nanotechnology, and Professor of Materials Engineering at NUS. He received academic training from Andhra University, IIT Madras, University of Cambridge, & Harvard University, and further exposure from more than 50 diverse tertiary institutions around the world. He received numerous recognitions including the China Changjiang Scholar, India Nehru Fellowship, Japan GSFS Fellow, and Singapore LKY Fellowship.  He is an elected international fellow of Royal Academy of Engineering, UK; National Academy of Engineering, India; Institution of Engineers Singapore; ASEAN Academy of Engineering & Technology; American Association of the Advancement of Science; ASM International; American Society for Mechanical Engineers; American Institute for Medical & Biological Engineering; Institution of Mechanical Engineers, UK; and Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining, UK.
